Michael Mogensen




Michael Mogensen is a creative leader providing strategic advice to organizations to help them solve complex problems and make better decisions.

His industry experience includes mobility, technology, finance, healthcare, and consultancy in the Americas, Europe, Asia (including the Middle East) and Africa. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish with conversational French.

He has led projects that range from an exploration of desired futures in Saudi Arabia to designing mobility pilots and experiences at Michigan Central, a +1B mobility innovation district.

He was an entrepreneurship coach with MIT’s Middle Eastern Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow program in Jerusalem, where he taught design research to young Palestinian and Israeli entrepreneurs. As an embedded researcher he has worked with youth involved in organized armed organizations in Jamaica and wrote a chapter for Neither War Nor Peace. His past speaking engagements include on Capitol Hill and at universities and conferences worldwide.

He holds a Master’s in Interaction Design from Goldsmiths, University of London, a Master’s in Development Management from the American University and a Bachelor’s in Latin American Studies from New York University.

As Innovation Team (i-team) Director at the City of Cleveland lead a team that is part of a three-year initiative helping 25 U.S. cities take bold action to achieve safer and more prosperous communities, particularly in areas where health, infrastructure, and economic outcomes can be improved.  Work closely with the mayor and city leadership, departmental staff, external experts, community organizations, and residents to ensure the i-team is delivering impactful solutions to some of the city’s biggest challenges. The Director is an employee of Johns Hopkins Universiy’s Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation and based in City Hall.
